WHY SHOULD YOU TEST FOR RADON?
| Nearly one out of every 15 homes in the US is estimated to have an
elevated radon level. |
The EPA recommends testing for radon in every home in their guide to Radon. "Radon is a radioactive gas that has been found in homes all over the
United States. IT comes from the natural breakdown of uranium in soil,
rock and water and gets into the air you breathe. Radon typically moves
up through the ground to the air above and into your home through cracks
and other holes in the foundation.
Any home can have a radon problem. This means new or old homes,
well-sealed and drafty homes, and homes with or without basements. In
fact, you and your family are most likely to get your greatest radiation
exposure at home.
Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer deaths, leading to
15,000-21,000 deaths per year. Testing is simple and mitigation in homes
that test high for radon typically runs between $800-$2,000.
We would be glad to perform a two day radon test for you during the home
inspection period of your sale. Please just request a test when you call
to schedule.

WATER TESTING
Water testing is a full alalysis of your home's drinking water including
the following:
Bacteria (Total Coliform, E Coli), Lead, Nitrate, Nitrite, Total
Nitrate/Nitrite, PH, Iron, and Turbidity
Testing is recommended in all homes, particularly homes built before 1978,
which may have lead leaching into the water from the pipes. Lead is more
dangerous to children than adults because their bodies absorb more lead.
Lead can damage a childs nervous system and brain development. This test
can be conducted simultaneously with your home inspection. For more
information on lead, its sources and efects visit the epa site.
