Purchasing An Older Home or Multi-plex

During my years remodeling, I have seen behind the walls, ceilings and floors of countless older and historic homes.  I have worked on  all phases of carpentry and also electrical, heating, plumbing and structural systems. I started swinging a hammer full time in 1994 and started shifting toward inspection after 8 years in the field. I still do a fair amount of remodeling on my own home.

There is no substitute for the experience gained by remodeling.  In 2004 I purchased a 1906 four-plex and remodeled the entire building for resale.  I also own a duplex I have renovated inside and out.  Be sure to choose an inspector knowing they have seen any issue that may be of concern on your property. I have found problems in homes that other inspectors have missed but don’t just take my word for it! See the testimonials section below for client comments.

My own home is a classic 1911 bungalow that I have  restored room by room, system by system. It has been a wonderful if not painstaking and dusty journey.  It took four years of hard work.   Not a surface or system was left untouched.  All of the heating, wiring, plumbing, fixtures and floor/wall/ceiling surfaces have been replaced, mostly by us and a few friends. It has a new kitchen and  2 and half new baths. We also added a small addition and had to rebuild the foundation. In 2006 the exterior was completely restored. Also in 2006 we finished our basement into living quarters for guests.  I am very proud of and attached to our home and recognize the importance of home to each person.  A home inspection is never just another jobsite.  It's YOUR HOME!
